Day26 The kingdom of Heaven: Attitudes & Assumptions

Matt 18
Now that we know who can understand what the Kingdom of Heaven is, the next question the disciples ask is , who then is greatest in The Kingdom? What a surprise, we want to know how to excel, succeed and advance.
I can't imagine the look on their faces when Jesus draws a child close to him and says "unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom" Enter!I can imagine that they thought they already had a place in the Kingdom all they needed to work out was the pecking order.

That is a good place to stop and reflect on my assumptions.
What qualities is YHWH looking for in us?

  1. Oh how the Lord loves the little children. How he loves their beautiful little faces. How He loves that simple faith and trust that is in the heart of a child. There is something about their innocence and simplicity that is absolutely glorious. I love it.

And Jesus takes a child and says, "look, you've got to become like a little child, even you, even going to enter the kingdom of heaven. And so if you humble yourself as a little child, that person will be the greatest". The path to greatness is the path of servanthood. How important that we learn to serve, that we not be looking for ourselves, but we only be looking for our Lord and to exalt Him.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receives me Mat 18:5. Diana

  2. I was holding the tinest of puppies this morning. He might be five inches in length and about three inches tall. I also held a female puppy that is twice his size. All the boy wanted to do was sleep. All the girl wanted to do was play.

I thought about how God enjoys puppies too. I thought about how God has given me the responsibility to take care of them. They need me to feed them, keep them warm and make sure they are safe. They don't think about this, they just accept that I will do my part. That reminded me of my need to trust God as they do and remember that God enjoys me too.
