Exodus 40. Behind the curtain in the Dwelling, the Tent of Appointment, we bring the Ark (coffer) of Testimony. Now we need a table, lamp stand and draw up its wick lampwicks, and a gold altar of incense.
I like the phrases from Everett Fox's translation Tent of Appointment, the Ark of the Covenent/Ark of Testimony. There is a deliberate act in comming to YHWH, an appointment is set and the conversation will be based on His set of promises from HIS word, HIS covenant with us.
The only activity happening behind the curtain is making incense.
40 v34-38 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take fragrant spices—gum resin, onycha and galbanum—and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts,and make a fragrant blend of incense, the work of a perfumer. It is to be salted and pure and sacred. Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the LORD. Whoever makes any like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off from his people."
Isn't it interesting that YHWH designed the Ark of Testimony for us, and the incense for himself?
In Revelation 5:8 we are told the incense is the prayers of the people.
Our prayers: salted, pure and sacred uuhmmm, now there's a pause for thought!
Any ideas on what constitutes "salty & sacred" prayers?

"Salty &sacred" prayers? salt represents so much in the bible, but I will take a few.
ReplyDeleteSalt produces thirst. Thirst for God to enter his presence is a good start seeking fellowship.
No salt leads to a energy graveyard. Without our YHWH we would be spiritually starved and morally exhasted.
It used to represent in Hebrew a symbol of alliance between close friends. Salt like the rainbow is a sign of our creator. curiously you will never see salt in any pagan rites.
Thirsting for our YHWH, Intering His presence to fellowship to know Him more, coming with great energy fervently, Zealous, impassioned. Trusting Him that we are His salt and light here on earth. I heard that if we are the "salt of the earth" we should be producing a "thirst for righteousness" in those around us.
ReplyDeleteIn ancient times payment for work was given in salt, and it eventually became the root of the word 'salary'.
Now the passage conveys a message that the currency of the Kingdom is being the "salt" and offering up salty prayers.
