Day 44 Proverbs 4 Definatly one to pass on to our kids

v 23Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Isn't it a shame that it takes so much time and heartache to learn a simple lesson as this? In a culture that calls us to tolerance, compromise and a veneer of "being christlike" i.e. be nice to others, we end up being walked on and tripped up in life by people we shouldn't allow into our lives never mind into our hearts!

I suppose that's the wisdom of getting older and learning from experience.
I often watch how children and animals react to people and I realize that they have more protective awareness than a lot of adults I know, including myself.
Children although trusting may not be as gullible as some would like to think!

  1. It never continues to amaze me how those who don't truly understand the nature of God put "shoulds" on the behavior of a Christian. I came to Christ filled with them but the Holy Spirit in His faithfulness taught me the truth. It is okay to be angry just don't sin in the anger. It is okay to say not because in saying yes you may stand in the way of what God is trying to accomplish in a person's life. It is okay to protect yourself from those who think they have the right to come in and trash what belongs to you just because they thing you should let them. Children understand these things naturally and then they are trained in the shoulds. When we become children in Christ, we can be led by the Holy Spirit to know when it is best to protect ourselves and when to open up, especially in issues of the heart.

  2. Ephesians 6:10-19 comes to my mind on how we can guard our heart's we need to reconize we do have a spiritual battle daily. Also reconize we cannot fight this battle in our own strength and ability. To strive to know our Heavenly Father more each day and to set our hearts to walk in obediece as to what we should do. And when we stumble ask forgiveness and pray for more grace. Also to pray for each other to grow in our knowledge of who we are in Christ. Diana

Eph. 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
