Day 46 Testing of God by his people

Exodus17:7 And he called the place Massah [a] and Meribah [b] because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the LORD saying, "Is the LORD among us or not?"

What does it take for us to acknowledge that YHWH is with us, through 'thick n thin'?
This is a central question to Exodus and for many of us who have asked the question at various points in our lives.

Emmanuel "God is with us" is the comforting message of the New Testament.
In Malachi ch3, we are invited to test God re tithing, in the area of provision but not His presence. Siobhan

  1. Your question what does it take to acknowledge that YHWH is with us. My answer a lot oviously. We most of the time have to go around and around the same mountain before we give up the control of self suffency that we hang on. I do pray some of my younger Christian sisters get it before I did. And that is a good prayer for all of us. On yesterday in chapter 15 we read that our "Lord is a man of war" This seems a hard thought for some Christians, we like to think about God's patience, mercy ,unending love, etc but Moses in chapter 14:14 told the people." The Lord shall fight for you. and one of the names of God is "Jehovah- Sabaoth,"which means "Lord of hosts, Lord of armies," In a place in one of my bibles it lists the names of God. I have read them several times, but when I read the Lord shall fight for you I went and looked it up again. When we allow the Lord he does go to battle for us. The biggest problem is us to trust God and ask forgiveness for our lack of faith also we hang on to anger and try to manage our own battles ourselves. And as you said My sweet sister acknowledge Him in every situation trust YHWH to work every situation for our best, especially the battles. Diana

  2. Both of your comments remind me of the verse, "Blessed is the Lord my strength, which teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight" (Psalm 144:1). He gives us detailed instructions in our battles.

It shouldn't surprise me how often I do battle against fear and doubt. Scripture says we do battle constinually, so why do I think less of myself for the spiritual conflict. God warns us so that we keep in close contact with him.
