Day 81 Psalm 36 Journey from Deception to Destruction

Journey of Self Deception to Self Destruction
Psalm 36 V 1 There is no fear of God before his eyes.
The Awesomeness of God is sorely lacking. There is a "Brazen familiarity with deity" to borrow a phrase from the book "the shack"

The path begins with
Self Conceit --->Deception to others -->Destruction before God
Psalm 36 V 2,3 For in his own eyes he flatters himself too much to detect or hate his sin.The words of his mouth are wicked and deceitful; he has ceased to be wise and to do good.

Battle for the mind is under attack... if we lose it at brain level it is soon seen on the behavioral level.
Psalm 36 V 4 Even on his bed he plots evil; he commits himself to a sinful course and does not reject what is wrong.

We are what we think about....

  1. You post reminds me of individuals who have recently committed adultry. The process beings with serving self pleasure. The person feels heavy guilt and hids his or her sin, but continues to dabble when stress builds. Eventually the dabbling becomes as habit.

From habitual sin begins the need to justify the actions so the guilt is bearable. It is sometime during this process that the person's talking to God changes from one of words of guilt to creating reasons why God would not mind the behavior.

Once the behavior is justified the deception moves toward telling himself or herself that the relationship is actually ordained by God.

It is bizzare to us who are walking closely with God that anyone could actually believe a particular sin is blessed by God. But that is why it is called deception. It denote an inability to discern truth any longer.

We are all capable of being decieved. That is why it is so important that we have a daily walk with God which includes allowing God to convict us of sin and doing whatever it takes to walk away from it.
