As Jesus mentioned Jonah in regard to his death and resurrection, he is worth looking at and not to be discounted as a fable as some rabbis and modern day theologians ( aka "theo hooligans") would have us believe. This shows me that Jonah was a long term faithful servant and God used him as a teaching point to describe the death and ressurrection of Jesus the Christ.
His ministry had a long term teaching that far outlived him.
