Day 233 House Work 101

Proverbs 24:3-4 "By wisdom a house is built,and through understanding it is established;through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures".

The Psalm for today shows us how to implement the lofty aspirations of wisdom, understanding and knowledge in our homes. Let's Unpack a few items from the Psalm.

Psalm 101 AKA House work 101!

A good outlook and determined attitude in life with a song in our heart is a good beginning. Watching what we sing about I find is crucial to me. There are many catchy tunes with gross sentiments of violence, unfaithfulness and injustice packaged as love relationships. I have a couple of songs that I have to turn of the radio when they come on! I am mindful of another proverb to "ABOVE ALL guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." Proverbs 4:23

These are the "I wills" that we live out today not the one we leave behind!
1 I will sing of your love and justice; to you, LORD, I will sing praise.
2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life—when will you come to me?
I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.
3 I will not look with approval on anything that is vile.
I hate what faithless people do;I will have no part in it.
4 The perverse of heart shall be far from me;
I will have nothing to do with what is evil.

Standing up for the reputation of others.
5 Whoever slanders their neighbor in secret,I will put to silence;whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart,I will not endure.

Seek out good people as friends.
6 My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; those whose walk is blameless will minister to me.
7 No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.

Silence Evil.
8 Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land; I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the LORD.

A sad commentary on todays news. The Lockerbie bomber discharged from prison receives a hero's welcome in his homeland. That piece of "compassion" has backfired. It takes wisdom and skill to show compassion responsibly. It's not a matter of "letting someone off". A better way would have been to receive the freed prisoner with national humility and match the grace shown to him by other grieving nations.
